Basketball Recap: Park City Takes a Loss

Park City managed to keep up with Grantsville until halftime on Wednesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Park City Miners came up short against the Grantsville Cowboys, falling 61-40. The loss continues a trend for the Miners in their matchups with the Cowboys: they've now lost seven in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Park City lost, don't look at Luke Rice. Despite the final result, he posted 15 points. That was a full 37.5% of Park City's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Michael Zagin, who had five points.

Grantsville had a senior duo take command as Dennis Castagno almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds and Bryson Roberts went 6 of 14 on his way to 19 points in addition to five assists and three steals. Castagno also set a new season-high mark in steals with six. Another player making a difference was Camden Killian, who posted six points and three steals.

Park City's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Grantsville, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

Park City didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 73-53 loss against Hillcrest on the 20th. As for Grantsville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 75-73 win against American Heritage on the 20th.
