Preview: Galena vs. South Beloit
The Galena Pirates will head out on the road to take on the South Beloit Sobos at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South Beloit took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Galena, who comes in off a win.
Galena had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against Pecatonica by a score of 3-1 on Thursday. Avery Ziegler had to tread lightly for part of the match after she was hit with a yellow card, but that was the only trouble Galena got from the refs.
Galena was led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Julia Holland and
Mikayla Knautz, who scored all three of Galena's goals.
Meanwhile, South Beloit was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell victim to a rough 9-0 defeat at the hands of Stillman Valley.
Galena was the clear victor by a 7-1 margin over South Beloit in their previous meeting back in March of 2019. The rematch might be a little tougher for Galena since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
