Softball Recap: Solon Comes Up Short

Solon had lost ten straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 4-10 to make it 11. They lost 11-1 to the Brecksville-Broadview Heights Bees. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bees this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-2 on April 4th.

Solon saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grace Gerhard, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

As for Brecksville-Broadview Heights, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 10-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by seven runs or more this season.

On Brecksville-Broadview Heights' side, Tess Cozza was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Cozza was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Gianna Roth was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Gabby Rowan, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Solon will host Mayfield at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Brecksville-Broadview Heights, they will take on Columbia at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
