Basketball Recap: Dominic Nowak's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Broken Bow over Valentine

Broken Bow lost against Valentine back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Broken Bow Indians took a 57-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Valentine. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Broken Bow's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dominic Nowak, who went 7 for 13 en route to 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zachary Jackson, who posted ten points along with eight rebounds and seven assists.

Valentine's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Andon Olson, who went 9 of 20 on his way to 22 points. Olson is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Isaac Cronin was another key player, going 6 for 12 en route to 19 points in addition to six boards and four steals.

Broken Bow's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Valentine, the win got them back to even at 8-8.

Broken Bow and Valentine could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings. Broken Bow will challenge Ogallala at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday down 139 places (142 vs. 3). Meanwhile, Valentine (ranked 130th) will meet Cozad (ranked 23rd) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
