Baseball Recap: Pamlico County Sets Scoring Season-High Against Lejeune

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pamlico County). They put the hurt on the Lejeune Devil Pups with a sharp 16-1 win on Friday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Hurricanes with their most commanding win of the season.

Ross McLamb was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed two walks, which is notable because Pamlico County is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-5 otherwise. McLamb was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Hunter Doughty was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Cam Daniels also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Pamlico County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Pamlico County has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. Lejeune is on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.
