Softball Recap: Westwood Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Millis, Westwood was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They walked away with a 9-6 victory over the Medfield Warriors. That's more bragging rights for the Wolverines, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Alexis Cahill spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits.

At the plate, Westwood let Abby Johnson and Mia French run wild. Johnson went 4-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while French went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabel Walsh, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

Westwood's record now sits at 3-7. As for Medfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Westwood is set to take on their familiar foe Dover-Sherborn at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Medfield will square off against rival Ashland at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
