Softball Recap: Voorheesville Snags Fifth Win in Last Six Games

Voorheesville was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Schoharie on Saturday. The Blackbirds never let the Storm get on the board and left with a 6-0 win. This was payback for the Blackbirds, who suffered a 6-5 loss the last time these two teams met.

Abby Brown was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Skylar Schmidt was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ava Tabakian, who went 3-for-4 with one run.

Voorheesville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Schoharie only managed one hit.

Voorheesville has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Schoharie, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.

Voorheesville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Schoharie, they will face off against Northville at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday.
