Basketball Game Preview: Kendrick Cherokees vs. Carver Tigers

Kendrick hasn't had much luck against Carver recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Kendrick Cherokees will look to defend their home court against the Carver Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Tuesday, Kendrick lost to Sumter County on the road by a 70-55 margin.

Meanwhile, Carver had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 46.5 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 77-42 win over the Raiders. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matchups by 31 points or more this season.

Kendrick better keep an eye on Tobiaz Tolbert. He was instrumental in Carver's win, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards. Tolbert is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last five games he's played. Tony Montgomery was another key player, going 8 of 17 on his way to 20 points and three steals.

Carver smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in six consecutive contests.

Carver pushed their record up to 15-2 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 37.8 points. As for Kendrick, their loss dropped their record down to 12-6.
