Baseball Recap: San Juan Picks Up Fifth Straight Win on the Road

San Juan had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt North Sevier on Wednesday. The Broncos were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Wolves. The victory continues a trend for the Broncos in their matchups with the Wolves: they've now won nine in a row.

Jake Ivins was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three doubles, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Corbin Middlton, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jaiten Knight, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

San Juan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

San Juan pushed their record up to 6-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for North Sevier, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: San Juan beat North Sevier by a score of 16-2 later that day.
