Basketball Recap: Cobre Comes Up Short

Cobre lost against Hot Springs back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Cobre Indians took a 56-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hot Springs Tigers. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Cobre still got an impressive performance from Zavin Guck, who posted 20 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. That was a full 44.4% of Cobre's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Izon Guck, who earned 16 points and five boards.

Even though they lost, Cobre smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 16 consecutive contests.

Cobre's loss dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Hot Springs, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-7.

Cobre didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 70-65 victory against Socorro on the 6th. As for Hot Springs, they have also already played their next match, a 55-31 win against Hatch Valley on the 6th.
