Jack Chavez turned in yet another pitching appearance with more than six strikeouts on Friday. Cranford had no answer to Chavez as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits.
Chavez and Westfield will head out on the road to square off against Scotch Plains-Fanwood at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Chavez has dominated as far as strikeouts are concerned (he's averaged 5.6 per game this season), but he's got his work cut out for him considering Scotch Plains-Fanwood has only allowed two per game this season.
