Softball Recap: Prestonsburg Takes a Loss

Prestonsburg lost against Pike County Central back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Blackcats fell 11-7 to the Hawks. The Blackcats' loss continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Hailey Cline and Liv Williams stepped up to the plate in a big way. Cline went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Williams went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one triple, and two RBI. Cline has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Rachael Roberts, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Prestonsburg's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Pike County Central, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Prestonsburg will head out to face off against Jenkins at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cavaliers will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Blackcats surely won't give up without a fight. As for Pike County Central, they are taking a road trip to take on Tates Creek at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
