Softball Recap: Lutheran North Has No Trouble Against University Liggett

While Lutheran North didn't have the best season last year (they finished 15-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on the University Liggett Knights with a sharp 12-0 victory on Thursday. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

The team relied heavily on Leah Safran, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mikenna Campisi, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Lutheran North's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for University Liggett, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lutheran North will challenge Varsity Opponent at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for University Liggett, they will square off against Notre Dame Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
