Southeast took a three-set loss the last time they faced off against Saint Stephen's Episcopal, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Seminoles came out on top in a nail-biter against the Falcons on Monday, sneaking past 3-2. This was payback for the Seminoles, who suffered a 3-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.
If you add up the scores from across all five sets (106-98) Southeast actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The final score came out to 25-20, 11-25, 25-23, 22-25, 15-13.
Jaeda Dean had a dynamite game, getting 15 digs, 14 kills, and seven blocks. Those 15 digs gave her a new career-high. Cha'Tonia Brown was another key player, getting eight blocks, five kills, and three digs.
Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ava Varga, who had seven digs and five aces. Another player making a difference was Karlah Benzan, who had 12 digs and two aces.

Southeast's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-2. As for Saint Stephen's Episcopal, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-4.
