Mattoon has been away from home for seven games now, but on Tuesday they'll finally make their return. They will host the Mt. Zion Braves at 7:00 p.m. Mattoon will be strutting in after a win while Mt. Zion will be coming in after a loss.
Last Saturday, Mattoon was able to grind out a solid victory over Hazelwood Central, taking the game 2-0. That two set margin sets a new team best for the Greenwave this season.
Mattoon can attribute much of their success to Nadya Paredes, who had two aces. Paredes is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted nine or more in the last five games she's played dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Mt. Zion's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mahomet-Seymour.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-13.
Mattoon's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Mt. Zion, they dropped their record down to 5-5 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
