Baseball Game Preview: Murray Tigers vs. Edmonson County Wildcats

The Murray Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Edmonson County Wildcats at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Murray came up short against Greenwood on Wednesday, falling 12-2.

Murray saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colin Winters, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Edmonson County took on Peachtree Ridge on Wednesday. The Wildcats lost 17-5 to the Lions. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Edmonson County now has a losing record of 4-5-1. As for Murray, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Murray has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Edmonson County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Murray came out on top in a nail-biter against Edmonson County in their previous matchup back in April of 2018, sneaking past 6-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
