Baseball Game Preview: Great Falls Red Devils vs. Lee Central Stallions

The Great Falls Red Devils will challenge the Lee Central Stallions at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Great Falls has three straight wins, Lee Central has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Thursday, Great Falls earned an 8-4 victory over North Central.

Kelby Brantley was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Great Falls: the team is 9-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-11 otherwise.

In other batting news, Great Falls got a massive performance out of Trenton Trotter, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Trotter has posted since back in March. Colton Evans was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

Meanwhile, Lee Central lost 16-4 to Great Falls on Wednesday.

Great Falls pushed their record up to 14-12 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Lee Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.
