Baseball Recap: Viewpoint's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

Viewpoint dropped their record down to 12-6 on Thursday, which also ended the team's ten-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Brentwood School Eagles, falling 8-0. Considering the last time the Patriots couldn't score was back in March, the team can't take the result too hard.

As for Brentwood School, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-11 record this season. Surprisingly, this marked their third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

For Brentwood School's part, Dean Hoshide was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave Hoshide a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Brentwood School: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-10 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Beckett Hoffman, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jack Kaplan, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Viewpoint will venture away from home to face off against Crossroads at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Brentwood School, they will head out to take on Village Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
