Baseball Recap: Aldine Has No Trouble Against Westfield

Aldine never let their opponents score on Friday. They blew past Westfield 7-0. Aldine might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.

Aldine got a big performance out of Julian Velez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Velez is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Alberto Gonzalez, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-1.

Aldine always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .529 or higher in three consecutive games.

Aldine's win bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Westfield, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-16.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Aldine will host Benjamin Davis at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Westfield, they will be playing at home against MacArthur at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs are facing the Generals at the right time seeing as the Generals are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
