Basketball Recap: Iola Victorious

Iola won the last time they faced Marmaton Valley, and Cortland Carson did his part to make sure it happened again. The Iola Mustangs put the hurt on the Marmaton Valley Wildcats with a sharp 67-44 win on Friday thanks in part to Carson, who went 13 for 25 on his way to 30 points and seven boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Iola's points.

Another player making a difference was Matt Beckmon, who posted five points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in boards.

Iola's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Marmaton Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-4.

Iola has already played their next contest (against Santa Fe Trail), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Marmaton Valley has also has no score uploaded for their next match, this one against Southern Coffey County.
