Basketball Recap: Jones Beats Luther for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Jones came tearing into Monday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 49-39 victory over the Luther Lions. Given the Longhorns' advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while the Lions are ranked 234th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Braden McNair, who posted ten points. Another player making a difference was Azayah Skannal, who put up six points and three steals.

Jones has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.1 points per game. As for Luther, they dropped their record down to 7-13 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jones has already played their next game (against Mount St. Mary), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Luther will host Prague at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
