Basketball Recap: Houston County Wins Going Away Against Mckenzie

Houston County's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They strolled past the McKenzie Rebels with points to spare, taking the game 65-51. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Fighting Irish considering their 28-point performance the contest before.

Houston County had a senior duo take command as Hagan Honeycutt posted 18 points and Mac Baggett went 6-for-8 from beyond the arc to rack up 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Honeycutt has scored all season. Casen Clark was another key player, putting up 11 points and six boards.

Houston County has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points over those games. McKenzie has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-14 record this season.

Houston County will face off against McEwen at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. McEwen will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Houston County surely won't give up without a fight. McKenzie does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
