Softball Game Preview: Samuell Spartans vs. White Longhorns

For the second straight game, Samuell will face off against White. The Spartans will venture away from home to square off against the Longhorns at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Samuell has given up an average of 9.8 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

White hit Samuell with a six-run third inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Spartans came up short against the Longhorns, falling 12-2. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For White's part, they got a great performance from Aileen Hernadez as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave Hernadez a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Elizabeth Martin was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Avia Rodriguez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

White hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in three consecutive matches.

White's win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-10-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Samuell, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.
