Softball Recap: McCutcheon Mavericks vs. Winamac Warriors
McCutcheon not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 22nd (when they won 10-0). They were the clear victors by a 13-5 margin over the Winamac Warriors. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mavericks.
Kaidynn Peckinpaugh was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). Peckinpaugh was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, McCutcheon let Aislyn Patel and Mallorie Beutel run wild. Patel went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases and one run, while Beutel went 2-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four stolen bases gave Patel a new career-high. Aubrey Miller also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
McCutcheon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Winamac only posted a batting average of .250.
McCutcheon's victory bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Winamac, their loss dropped their record down to 13-4.
Coming up, McCutcheon will venture away from home to take on Kankakee Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Winamac, they will be taking part in a tournament against Maconaquah at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
