Basketball Game Preview: GRACE Christian Eagles vs. Northwood Chargers

Two dominant guards in Michael Phillips II and Cam Fowler are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The GRACE Christian Eagles will take on the Northwood Chargers in a holiday battle at at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

It was a Battle of the Birds when GRACE Christian faced off against Ravenscroft on Monday. The contest between GRACE Christian and Ravenscroft didn't end well, with GRACE Christian falling 73-58.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Eli Nelson, who posted ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Malachi Tate, who had seven points and five assists.

Meanwhile, Northwood had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.3 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They breezed by the Buccaneers to the tune of 69-33. Given the Chargers' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 51st, while the Buccaneers are ranked 344th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

GRACE Christian now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Northwood, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.

GRACE Christian came up short against Northwood in their previous meeting back in December of 2018, falling 74-64. Thankfully for GRACE Christian, Dedric Powell Ii (who went 12 of 16 on his way to 25 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
