Basketball Game Preview: St. Joseph Notre Dame Pilots vs. Head-Royce Jayhawks

The St. Joseph Notre Dame Pilots will take on the Head-Royce Jayhawks at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Joseph Notre Dame knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 13 matchups -- so hopefully Head-Royce likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, St. Joseph Notre Dame beat Athenian 59-53. Given the Pilots' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 187th, while the Owls are ranked 617th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Head-Royce waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Phoenix with a sharp 73-52 win.

St. Joseph Notre Dame is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points over those games. As for Head-Royce, their victory bumped their record up to 14-12.

St. Joseph Notre Dame couldn't quite finish off Head-Royce in their previous meeting last Friday and fell 70-67. Can St. Joseph Notre Dame avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
