Basketball Recap: Westlake Comes Up Short

Westlake lost against St. Charles back in December of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Westlake Wolverines were beaten by St. Charles 60-26. The Wolverines were down 41-20 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

St. Charles got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kyoko Johnson-Reeves out in front who went 7-for-15 to rack up 22 points along with seven boards and five blocks. The dominant performance gave Johnson-Reeves a new career-high in blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Amia McLamb, who posted five points in addition to nine rebounds, eight blocks, and six steals.

Westlake has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 11 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. The win was the third in a row for St. Charles, bringing their record for this year to 14-6.

Coming up, Westlake won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Thomas Stone at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Charles, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll square off against Great Mills at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. St. Charles is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.8 points per game this season.
