Basketball Recap: Sandy Valley Takes a Loss

If Sandy Valley was riding high fresh off their 55-32 takedown of Claymont last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Sandy Valley Cardinals were dealt a 69-28 defeat at the hands of the Hiland Hawks on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 393rd, while the Hawks are ranked 82nd).

Sandy Valley's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Hiland, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sandy Valley will take on Indian Valley in a holiday battle at at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hiland and Ridgewood will compete for holiday cheer at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hiland's defense has only allowed 29.5 points per game this season, so Ridgewood's offense will have their work cut out for them.
