Baseball Recap: Spanish River Comes Up Short

Spanish River lost against Cardinal Newman back in February of 2021, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Sharks took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Crusaders. The Sharks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Spanish River saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jesse Chimenti, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base.

Spanish River's defeat dropped their record down to 13-11. As for Cardinal Newman, their win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-2-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Spanish River will venture away from home to square off against Saint Andrew's at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Sharks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Scots have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Cardinal Newman, they will head out to face off against Jupiter at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
