Baseball Recap: Middleburgh Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Middleburgh dropped their record down to 6-3 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Cobleskill-Richmondville Bulldogs, falling 13-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Knights have suffered since April 29, 2024.

As for Cobleskill-Richmondville, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games.

For Cobleskill-Richmondville's part, Brody Becker was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave Becker a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Becker is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, Cobleskill-Richmondville got a massive performance out of Brandon Rotman, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Rotman a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Barr, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Middleburgh will challenge Berne-Knox-Westerlo at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cobleskill-Richmondville, they will head out to challenge Schalmont at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
