Basketball Game Preview: Buffalo Bison vs. Roane County Raiders

The Buffalo Bison and the Roane County Raiders will compete for holiday cheer at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Monday, Buffalo earned a 50-43 win over Wahama. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bison.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Buffalo to victory, but perhaps none more so than Camryn Samples, who went 6 of 8 on her way to 13 points and four steals. What's more, Samples also racked up four assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Alivia Luikart, who went 5 of 11 en route to 11 points along with seven boards and five steals.

Meanwhile, Roane County put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Calhoun with a sharp 54-30 victory. The Raiders' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Buffalo better keep an eye on Braylin Bowe. She was instrumental in Roane County's win, putting up 14 points and five rebounds. Bowe is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Amelia Pope was another key player, posting 11 points.

Roane County's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-0. As for Buffalo, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.

This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Buffalo has been crazy accurate this season, having nailed 48.6% of their shots per game. It's a different story for Roane County, though, as they've only made 27.6% of their field goals this season. Given Buffalo's sizable advantage in that area, Roane County will need to find a way to close that gap.

Buffalo was taken down by Roane County 65-38 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Thankfully for Buffalo, Faith Mason (who went 7 of 14 on her way to 18 points along with eight boards and three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
