Basketball Recap: Lowry Comes Up Short

Lowry lost against Fernley back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Lowry Buckaroos came up short against the Fernley Vaqueros, falling 62-40.

Fernley was led to victory by Bryce Dunagan-Stephens and Sheldon Jacobson. Dunagan-Stephens went 7 of 12 en route to 19 points and five rebounds, while Jacobson went 7 for 13 on his way to 16 points along with eight assists and six boards. What's more, Dunagan-Stephens also posted a 50% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in December of 2024. Michael Fitzgerald was another key player, putting up nine points and three steals.

Lowry has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for Fernley, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

Coming up, Lowry will face off against Dayton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lowry is facing Dayton at the right time seeing as Dayton is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Fernley, they will square off against Churchill County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Fernley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55 points per game this season.
