Recap: High Point Christian Academy Cougars vs. Forsyth Country Day Furies
The High Point Christian Academy Cougars entered their tilt with the Forsyth Country Day Furies with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. High Point Christian Academy enjoyed a cozy 66-49 win over Forsyth Country Day on Tuesday. Given High Point Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while Forsyth Country Day is ranked 182nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
High Point Christian Academy was led to victory by Angel Walker and Kylie Torrence. Walker went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points and 3 assists, while Torrence dropped a double-double on 30 points and 15 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Walker has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Townes, who scored five points along with seven rebounds.
Forsyth Country Day's loss came despite strong showings from Lila Kelly and Gigi Lyons. Kelly scored 20 points, while Lyons scored 19 points. That was a full 40.8% of Forsyth Country Day's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Amory Kelly was another key contributor, scoring six points.
High Point Christian Academy's victory was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-3. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 31 points. As for Forsyth Country Day, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-9.
Coincidentally, High Point Christian Academy and Forsyth Country Day will both be playing Greensboro Day School the next time they take the court. Forsyth Country Day will head out to face Greensboro Day School at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, while High Point Christian Academy will host them at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
