2A/1A Rocky River recap Oct. 23, 2012
Forest Hills extended the longest winning streak in 2A/1A Rocky River this week by beating North Stanly, 52-7. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Yellowjackets.
Forest Hills led the league in scoring this week after putting up 52 points on the Comets. Jared Lee threw for 48 yards and one touchdown and ran for 166 yards in the win.
Austin Kendall put up the best numbers through the air as Cuthbertson beat West Stanly. He finished with a total of seven completions for 207 yards and four touchdowns. Kendall's favorite target this week was Emmitt Afam, who caught two passes for 106 yards.
Cody Jefferson was the best wideout in the league this week as Central Academy lost to Monroe. Jefferson tallied six receptions for 136 yards. Quay Threatt helped Central Academy's passing attack out by catching three balls for 90 yards.
On the ground, Union Academy's Rasheed Rushing has rushed for 1286 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Afam. The Cuthbertson star has 41 catches for 766 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Forest Hills takes on second place Monroe. John Lowery's team bested North Stanly last week, while the Redhawks defeated the Cougars.
The Yellowjackets' Lee needs only 43 yards against Monroe next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 126 carries Lee has accumulated 957 yard this year.
