Volleyball Recap: Florence Comes Up Short + How To Watch

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Florence and La Junta, and La Junta kept the tradition alive. The Huskies fell 3-1 to the Tigers on Tuesday. The Huskies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Florence started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 25-16, 25-15, 25-22.

La Junta found their leader in sophomore Mia Whatley, who had 11 digs and four aces. Whatley also put up an assist, which was her first of the season.

Florence's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-6. As for La Junta, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Florence is set to take on their familiar foe Salida at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, La Junta will face off against rival Atlas Preparatory School at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
