Basketball Recap: New Designs Watts Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact New Designs Watts can now relate to. They were beaten by the Sun Valley Magnet Pioneers 72-32 on Thursday. The Knights' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Despite the defeat, New Designs Watts had strong showings from Martavius Watson, who went 6-for-12 on his way to 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals, and Magic Haynes, who posted eight points in addition to 12 boards and three steals. Haynes has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played.

Even though they lost, New Designs Watts smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

New Designs Watts' loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Sun Valley Magnet, they pushed their record up to 14-9 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road.

New Designs Watts does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sun Valley Magnet, they will take on Dr. Maya Angelou Community at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
