Volleyball Recap: Saturday's Defeat Ends Kellenberg Memorial's Winning Streak

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Kellenberg Memorial couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They lost 3-0 to the St. Mary's Lancers on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Firebirds have suffered against the Lancers since November 11, 2017.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-16, 25-15.

Kellenberg Memorial's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Julianna Lucie, who had eight digs and four aces.

St. Mary's was led to victory by Sarina Notaro and Brooke Moore. Notaro had 14 digs and two assists, while Moore had six digs and four aces. Notaro has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last ten times she's played.

Kellenberg Memorial moved to 21-5 with that loss, which also ended their five-match winning streak. As for St. Mary's, their win was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 38-1-2.

Kellenberg Memorial does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Mary's, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-1 victory against Xaverian on the 8th.
