Basketball Recap: Fortuna Comes Up Short

Fortuna was the 68-54 winner over Eureka when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Fortuna Huskies fell just short of the Eureka Loggers by a score of 60-57 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Huskies have suffered against the Loggers since December 18, 2021.

Eureka's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Elijah Estrada, who posted 15 points. Another player making a difference was Trenton Gerber, who had 15 points.

Fortuna has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. As for Eureka, they pushed their record up to 13-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home.

Fortuna will face off against Del Norte at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Fortuna is facing Del Norte at the right time seeing as Del Norte is stuck on a three-game losing streak. Eureka has already played their next matchup (against Ukiah), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
