Volleyball Game Preview: Fountain-Fort Carson Trojans vs. Pueblo South Colts

The Fountain-Fort Carson Trojans will venture away from home to challenge the Pueblo South Colts at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Fountain-Fort Carson is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest defeat since March 11th on Saturday. They came up short against Douglas County, falling 3-0.

The final score came out to 25-15, 25-18, 25-17.

Meanwhile, Pueblo South came tearing into Friday's game with five straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Jaguars with a sharp 3-0 win.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Pueblo South was: they took every set by at least 14 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 25-11, 25-7.

Fountain-Fort Carson better focus on containing Luke Vasquez and Eryc Heredia as the pair were huge in Pueblo South's win. Vasquez had ten digs and two aces, while Heredia hit 57.1% for five kills and six digs and five aces. Heredia has been hot for a while, having also posted 15 or more assists the last 15 times he's played. Gabriel Archuleta also deserves some recognition as he served his first ace of the season.

Pueblo South was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least ten aces in four consecutive contests.

Fountain-Fort Carson now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Pueblo South, they pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Fountain-Fort Carson skirted past Pueblo South 3-2 when the teams last played back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
