Recap: Rye Cove Eagles vs. Honaker Tigers
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Rye Cove Eagles, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a 28-18 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers on Saturday. Rye Cove's loss signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.
It was another big night for Aidan Lowe, who rushed for 164 yards and three touchdowns, and also picked up 95 receiving yards for Honaker. Peyton Musick was another key player, having thrown for 251 yards and onetouchdown.
Rye Cove's defeat dropped their record down to 11-2. As for Honaker, they pushed their record up to 13-0 with that win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.
Rye Cove does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Honaker will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Galax at 2:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Virginia (Galax is ranked 115th, while Honaker is ranked 130th).
