The Valley Heights Mustangs are taking a road trip to square off against the Frankfort Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Valley Heights is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Valley Heights is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They had just enough and edged out Blue Valley 8-7 on Monday. That's two games straight that the Mustangs have won by just one run.

Mack Shanks made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Shanks was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cayden Dummermuth, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Frankfort entered their tilt with Onaga on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Buffaloes. That ten run margin sets a new team best for the Wildcats this season.

The victory made it two in a row for Valley Heights and bumps their season record up to 2-2. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Frankfort, they pushed their record up to 3-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Valley Heights suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Frankfort in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Valley Heights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
