Baseball Recap: Lincoln-Way East Makes It Eight in a Row at Home

Lincoln-Way East won against Yorkville last Saturday with two runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. Lincoln-Way East beat the Wilmington Wildcats by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 2-1. The Griffins' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Jack Bauer looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk).

On the hitting side, Lincoln-Way East saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Safarik, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.

Lincoln-Way East hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wilmington struck out 14 times.

Lincoln-Way East's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Wilmington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lincoln-Way East will welcome Oak Forest at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Lincoln-Way East is facing Oak Forest at the right time seeing as Oak Forest is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Wilmington, they will challenge Dwight at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
