Basketball Recap: Capital Takes Down Ranked Ridgevue

On Wednesday, Capital faced Ridgevue in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Capital Golden Eagles snuck past the Ridgevue Warhawks with an 87-81 win. That's more bragging rights for the Golden Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Ridgevue lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Dawson Phillips, who posted 20 points. That's the most points Phillips has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kaimana Nielson, who put up 15 points.

The victory made it two in a row for Capital and bumps their season record up to 14-3. As for Ridgevue, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season.

Capital will look to defend their home court on Friday against Borah at 7:00 p.m. As for Ridgevue, they will host Owyhee at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Owyhee has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
