Football Recap: Northeast Vikings vs. St. Mary's Academy Crusaders

If Northeast was feeling good fresh off their 68-14 takedown of East last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Northeast Vikings took a 26-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. Mary's Academy Crusaders. The Vikings lost against the Crusaders in their previous head to head back in September of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 58-26 score last time.

St. Mary's Academy's receiving core played a big role in the win, headlined by Simon Drew and Damien Crismore. Drew threw for 161 yards and two touchdowns while Crismore picked up 100 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Crismore also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up a sack, making three total tackles, and defending a pass.

Northeast dropped their record down to 1-5 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for St. Mary's Academy, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-4 record.

Northeast will face off against Sumner Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Mary's Academy, they and Pembroke Hill are set to duel on Thursday. Pembroke Hill will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something St. Mary's Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
