Baseball Recap: Nansemond River Comes Up Short

Nansemond River fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Lakeland on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cavaliers by a score of 5-4. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Cavaliers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Landon Pociask was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched.

At the plate, Buddy Baker made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Konner Johnson, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Nansemond River's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Lakeland, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Nansemond River will welcome Granby at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Lakeland, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Windsor at 5:30 p.m.
