Soccer Game Preview: Lathrop vs. Johansen

The Lathrop Spartans will take on the Johansen Vikings at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. Johansen took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Lathrop, who comes in off a win.

Lathrop took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They never let Ceres onto the board and left with a 3-0 win.

Lathrop hit Ceres with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Juan Morales, Alan Hernandez, and Andres Garcia.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 0-0 at halftime, Johansen was not quite Pacheco's equal in the second half on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 1-0. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 581st, while the Panthers are ranked 201st).

Johansen now has a losing record at 8-9-3. As for Lathrop, they now have a winning record of 8-7-3.

Everything went Lathrop's way against Johansen in their previous matchup on January 7th, as Lathrop made off with a 5-1 victory. Will Lathrop repeat their success, or does Johansen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
