Baseball Recap: Cardinal Newman Victorious

Cardinal Newman posted their closest win since February 25th on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Flanagan Falcons, sneaking past 7-5. This was payback for the Crusaders, who suffered a 6-4 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Dominic Demarzo and Gabriel Acevedo did most of the damage at the plate: Demarzo went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Acevedo went 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Finn Duran, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Cardinal Newman kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in six consecutive matches.

Cardinal Newman's victory bumped their record up to 13-1-1. As for Flanagan, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-10.

Looking ahead, Cardinal Newman will host American Heritage at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Flanagan, they will venture away from home to face off against Dr. Krop at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Flanagan has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
