Basketball Recap: Pierce Comes Up Short

Pierce dropped to 17-7 on Thursday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They were beaten by Guardian Angels Central Catholic 54-27. Pierce was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Guardian Angels Central Catholic apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2025.

When it comes to explaining why Pierce lost, don't look at Nora Herian. Despite the final result, she went 7-for-9 en route to 15 points. Haley Scholting was another key player, putting up seven points.

As for Guardian Angels Central Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 22 points or more this season.

Guardian Angels Central Catholic's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bailey Gerths, who shot 42% from the field on her way to 22 points along with eight boards and three steals. The matchup was Gerths' third in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Kara Ridder, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 15 rebounds.

Looking ahead, Pierce will face off against Homer at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Guardian Angels Central Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
