Baseball Recap: North RedHawks vs. Heights Falcons
North had lost eight straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped down to 5-8 to make it nine. They came up short against the Heights Falcons, falling 15-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 22-9 on Monday.
As for Heights, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games.
For Heights' part, Carter Smith was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. The Falcons are 4-2 when Smith posts two or more runs, but 2-5 otherwise. Kingston Matchett was another key player, firing off three doubles, three RBI, and one triple while going 4-for-4.
Looking ahead, North will take on West on Monday. As for Heights, they will face off against Blue Valley West at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
