Softball Recap: Joliet West Tigers vs. Plainfield East Bengals
Joliet West dropped their record down to 7-21 on Monday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Plainfield East Bengals by a score of 2-1. Tigers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Bengals since on Monday.
As for Plainfield East, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 20-11. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 3.75 runs across that stretch.
For Plainfield East's part, Jocelyn Cushard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up 12 Ks. Cushard has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Avery Welsh was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
